Apartment, Paris 15th arrondissement
Full renovation of a 74m² apartment
Completion: February 2025
Photography: Jean-Baptiste Thiriet

This apartment has been fully renovated, with the volumes, layout and circulation thoroughly rethought. It comprises a living room and dining area open onto the kitchen, two bedrooms each with its own shower room, and separate toilets.

Upon entering the apartment, a glazed frame is visible straight ahead in the background. It has been installed where the former entrance to the bathroom used to be, as that space has now been converted into the kitchen. This allows more natural light to enter.

We swapped the positions of the existing living room and dining room and widened the opening between them to enlarge the space and improve flow.

At the clients’ request, the walls and ceilings were painted white. Warmth and colour therefore come from the parquet flooring, furniture and light fittings. The Roman blinds provide a soft light in this west-facing apartment.

We also swapped the bathroom and the kitchen. A large opening was created in the load-bearing wall so that the kitchen opens onto the dining room and, in turn, the living room.

We designed a bespoke island, with the lower section in oak veneer, including three faces in fluted oak carved with a gouge.

An antique-style mirror installed as the end panel to the tall units helps to visually soften them and makes the space feel larger.

In the sleeping area, one of the two bedrooms has its own private shower room. The access can be concealed with a curtain, or left open to bring in additional natural light. A mirror, fitted with a wall light at its centre, visually enlarges this small space.

The second bedroom also has a shower room, accessed from the hallway.
